In Which Liam Cuts To The Chase
Liam: "Mommy, was the world built?"
Me: "Hhhhhmmmmm?"
Liam: "You know, the world. How was it made?"
Me: "Well, the plants and animals grow, and the buildings are built by people."
Liam: "No. The world under the plants and animals. What about it?"
Me: "You mean the ground? The Earth? Where did that come from?"
Liam: "Yes."
Me: "Do you want the Biblical or the scientific explanation?"
Liam: "I just want the one that is actually right, Mommy."
Me: "Oh."

Come to think of it, I'd like the correct answer to that one too, Mommy. Just whenever you have time. ;)

Yeah, let me know too. My Boy keeps asking and we keep discussing, but he's not pleased with my "How do YOU think it was made?" response.
Adorable pic!!!

gosh, liesl, having kids is a bit of a headspin, huh... the convo's just get better and more in depth and more confusing as the kiddos get older, lol.
actually i love getting inside my kids' heads on these kinda topics, fabulous to see how/what they think after years of mulling over various scientific/philosophical/theological issues. and i love discussing all viewpoints and throwing around all the ideas. cos i think it's vital that our kiddos grow up knowing how to *think*...
there's even a creation science viewpoint out there, maybe that would make sense to liam lol
love X

And your answer was....?!?
We've been there, too! It's amazing to me how young they are when they start realizing something isn't quite making sense.

Kate - I didn't even consider trying the CS/ID explanation; I think it's more than he's looking for at this point. I do agree that kids need to know how to think, and I'm looking forward to more of these discussions as the boys grow. And the Flying Spaghetti Monster is just so tongue-in-cheek!
